Job Summary
The Commerical Support Manager is directly responsible for the performance of credit and collection support within their region. They work closely with their local and extended credit staff and sales to meet customer requirements. They must have knowledge of construction lien laws and legal matters in order to fully protect accounts receivable to minimize loss and maximize cash flow. They are active in outside credit organizations. They must maintain good will and good relations with all external and internal Business Partners. They are responsible for the continuous training of their staff.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring region meets its collections goals including percentage of A/R Collected and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
- Responsible to manage the team of direct reports and working closely with Sales and/or any other internal/external means to collect and support activities.
- Responsible for credit worthiness through the review of trade reports, references and financial analysis
- Analyze, approve or reject credit applications.
- Recommend and maintain credit lines for all customers.
- Ability to motivate and educate others on credit management within and outside the department.
- Monitor accounts receivable identifying potentially adverse collection issues and recommend appropriate actions to minimize credit risk.
- Follow up support sales on resolve customer complaints, discrepancies, and disputes using appropriate internal and external communication.
- Assist and supervise clerical personnel as necessary.
- Prepare reports that add value to our internal Business Partners
- Coordinate and serve as liaison for communications between customers, director of credit, sales, logistics & other business segments as needed.
- Maintain continuing credit management education by attending Professional Association Meetings.
- Prepare presentations for any initiative in which Commercial Support team is participating
- Responsible for the maintenance and security of customer files in compliance with Records Retention policies.
- Responsible for special projects and requests as needed. ·
- Effectively represent the company’s best interest with customers.
- Manage time effectively to schedule and prioritize assignments. Manage time and tasks when dealing with emergencies.
- Make administrative improvement recommendations.
- Make customer visits to support sales
- Actively participate in Sales meetings to reinforce Credit and Collection processes and behaviors with our customers
- Assist with auditor requests
- Release Credits/Debits
- Review for processing 6-month mandatory credits/debits
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) and 3 to 5 years’ in Credit and Collections experience
- Knowledge of SAP
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of PC Programs (Microsoft Office, Outlook, IBM Notes, SAP ECC, SAP CRM and webapplications.
- Excellent computer skills including Word and Excel.
- Self-directed and good organizational skills.
- Good interpersonal skills to interact with both internal and external customers.
- Manage time effectively to schedule and prioritize assignments.
- Manage time and tasks when dealing with emergencies.
Working Conditions
- Works in office and occasionally at plants, terminals, warehouses and other facilities.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- May be required to work after hours and on weekends or holidays for project implementation.
- Travel as needed
Physical Requirements
- Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
- Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods oftime.
